Our Story
In 2022, Jim and Bob opened J & B Traditional Archery with a shared mission: to help preserve the tradition of archery by providing a welcoming place where individuals and families can learn, practice, and enjoy the sport together. They believe traditional archery is a rewarding pastime that can be enjoyed by people of all ages without requiring a major financial investment.
Meet Jim (right)
Like many kids of his generation, Jim's interest in archery began while playing cowboys and Indians. He was fascinated by the bows and arrows used by Native Americans, and that early curiosity grew when he had the opportunity to shoot in Boy Scouts.
Like many people, life eventually took him in other directions. Years later, friends introduced him to bowhunting, and he harvested his first deer with a compound bow—an experience he still describes as an incredible thrill.
After reconnecting with longtime archer Bob Johnson, Jim discovered the world of traditional archery. That renewed his passion for the sport, and he's been dedicated to it ever since.
Meet Bob (left)
Bob began shooting archery in 1958 at the age of 15. He has competed in tournaments over the years, but has primarily focused on recreational shooting and hunting.
He opened a small archery shop about eight years ago, and later partnered with Jim to create J & B Traditional Archery.
The shop was built with the goal of keeping traditional archery alive and accessible, especially for beginners and those new to the sport. Bob especially enjoys helping new archers build confidence while learning the fundamentals of traditional archery in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Over the years, the shop has worked with many people in the community, and Bob hopes to continue sharing his passion for traditional archery for years to come.
Our Philosophy
At J & B Traditional Archery, we believe traditional archery is about more than hitting the target. It's about patience, craftsmanship, respect for history, and enjoying time with family and friends. Whether you're six years old or sixty, we're always happy to help you discover the satisfaction of shooting a traditional bow.
